Partnerships

IDRF works with local, international, and grassroots organizations to ensure long-term sustainability for impoverished people by encouraging project participants to work collectively for their own social and economic improvement. By partnering with a variety of organizations, IDRF is able not only able to gain a local community perspective, but is also able to reach more people in deprived and remote areas of the world.

Below is a list of IDRF’s partners in Canada and in other parts of the world. (Provide links to the following bold headings)

Partners with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)

CIDA is Canada’s lead agency for development assistance. It has a mandate to support sustainable development in developing countries in order to reduce poverty and to contribute to a more secure, equitable, and prosperous world.

CIDA administers approximately 80% of the Canadian aid budget, managing about $3 billion per year. The agency works in partnership with developing countries, Canadian organizations, institutions, businesses, and other bilateral and multi-lateral international organizations and agencies.

In its aim to empower the disadvantaged people of the world through emergency relief and participatory development programs, IDRF has had a long-standing partnership with CIDA. Over the past 25 years, IDRF has been able to approach CIDA to support long-term development projects in countries like Myanmar, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

When CIDA provides grants or matches funds for a project, IDRF is in a position to double or triple donor dollars so that a broader range and a larger number of recipients can benefit from the generous contributions made by donors.
